Remote Assistance

If you're online, but you're having trouble setting up a particular program, such as an email client, firewall, or VoIP phone, we can help.

How it works:

  1. The person requiring assistance (the novice) creates an invitation file.
  2. The invitation file is submitted via the form below.
  3. A qualified GBTel technician (the expert) will receive the invitaion, and initiate remote assistance.
  4. The novice will choose to allow the expert temporary access to their computer. At which point, Remote Assistance has been established.

Step 1:

Create an invitation file

Windows XP:

  1. Click Start, click All Programs, and then click Remote Assistance.
  2. Click Invite someone to help you, and then select Save Invitation as a file.
  3. Enter your name, and then choose a time on the Set the Invitation to Expire drop down box, (Suggested: 48 hours). Click Continue.
  4. Type in a password (Suggested: helpme) and then click Save Invitation. The Save File dialog box appears. Save the file in the My Documents folder.

Windows Vista:

  1. Open Remote Assistance by clicking the Start button, clicking All Programs, clicking Maintenance, and then clicking Windows Remote Assistance.
